The Band & Crew

~ Brian Nay - Keyboards, Vocals -The 80's was a decade of musical decadence in western Canada for rock cover bands. The hotel circuit provided an abundance of full week gigs along with accommodations. It was in this upside-down world that I found too much solace playing keys for various acts. The title of Aerosmith's album "Permanent Vacation" sums it up nicely. Keys were quickly relogated to obscurity with the onslaught of Grunge. The 90s keyboard player became the onstage musical parody who in all likelyhood was not even plugged in at the sound board. The saviour was Garth Brooks who in turn exploded the live country music scene. I put away the gamut of synthesizers in favor of honky tonk piano and hammond organ. The bleach blonde patron was replaced by the Daisy Duke line-dancer, and the gig lived on. As expected, I became severely allergic to country songs by the end of the 90s. So, it seemed right to do the the original project (had to be done eventually). Those were fond years producing / engineering / playing some great music with some great musicians. Unfortunately, the record labels didn't agree with the "great" part (what?). So, for the last 10 years, I get my musical yayas off playing in cover bands. I joined the latest reincarnation of Knee Deep in 2015. Lets see where the journey goes ....
